MOGA 2010

Registration Checklist

E-mail Print PDF

I've registered for the MOGA website. Now what?

Congratulations! You have completed STEP ONE and are on your way to attending one of the most exciting, challenging, fun-filled geocaching events ever! But if you don't complete the next steps, you'll miss out on awesome MOGA swag and hot catered meals!

STEP TWO: Register for the event
Don't forget, once you register for the MOGA website, you still need to register for the event! To do this, you need to sign in to www.mogageo.com. Now that you're a registered user, you'll see some new links on the left side of the page. Click on the "Register for MOGA" link and follow the instructions to choose one of our registration packages. We have multiple levels of registration, from full-blown packets that include meals, to totally free registrations.

Whether you're a competitor or a casual cacher, you need to register. In addition, everyone who wants to participate in the MOGA Poker Run must be a registered MOGA participant.

Why should I register now?
Pre-registering is the only way to purchase meals for the event. Because of selling restrictions, no meal tickets can be purchased at MOGA 2010. And by signing up for a registration package early, you are guaranteed to get your hands on MOGA merchandise, and save money with a package deal! When you register early, it gives us the much-needed revenue to purchase all that cool swag.

If you wait to buy MOGA merchandise from the store at the event, it will cost you more to buy the items individually, and we can't guarantee that everything will be in stock. This doesn't mean you have to pay online. You have the option of mailing in a check with your order.

STEP THREE: Submit a waiver
We need a signed waiver from every person who attends MOGA 2010. The waiver can be downloaded from www.mogageo.com and faxed or mailed to us (see info at the bottom of the form). If you don't fill out a waiver beforehand, you will have to fill one out at the Registration table at the event.

That's it! Once you register for MOGA 2010 and submit your waiver, we'll make sure all your MOGA swag and meal tickets are there when you arrive. You can even pick everything up early at the Friday night meet-and-greet on April 9. If you have any questions about the Registration process, let us know by posting a question in the MOGA Forums, or by clicking on the Contact Us link at www.mogageo.com.

New Rules for Age Divisions

E-mail Print PDF

We will have identical age divisions for all competitors at MOGA 2010! Age divisions for the Team Competition, the Men's Individual Competition, and the Women's Individual Competition will be the same:

Under 30
30-49
50 and Over

If you want to compete as a team, you are free to recruit team members from any age group! New for this year, teams can be made up of 2 or 4 people OF ANY AGE, and your age division will NOT be based solely on the age of your youngest team member (as it has at past MOGAs). Teams can be made up of any combination of men, women, boys or girls, as long as you have either 2 or 4 competitors per team. See the guidelines below for determining your team's age division:

FOR 4-PERSON TEAMS: Your team will compete in the age division in which the majority of team members belong. For example, Team RoadKill is made up of Big Bear (age 51), Missouri Squirrel (34), Flatfrog (30), and Moondoggie (45). The majority of Team RoadKill's team members fall in the 30-49 age division, so that is the division they will compete in.

If there is no clear majority, then the team members' ages will be averaged to determine the team's age division.

FOR 2-PERSON TEAMS: We will average the ages of both team members, and that will be the age division that you will compete in. For example, BornToCache is 42, and she wants to compete with her son, MadMax, who is 12. The average of their ages is 27, so they will compete in the Under 30 age division.

Register now for MOGA 2010! Even if you don't want to compete, there's plenty of fun for cachers of all abilities! Act now and receive a fully enabled copy of Cache Logger Assistant or Coin Logger Assistant software from GCSoft when you pick up your MOGA goodies. Sign in, then click on the Register for MOGA link in the left column of the Home Page.

What Is MOGA?

E-mail Print PDF

MOGA is the Midwest Open Geocaching Adventure!

Now in our seventh year, MOGA is one of the world's largest geocaching competitions, where participants race from waypoint to waypoint on foot over moderate to difficult terrain, through some of the most captivating scenery in Missouri. But MOGA isn't just for competitors -- there are also activities geared towards families and the laid-back cacher. We will have kids' caches, a poker run, not to mention 200+ existing caches around Mark Twain Lake, plus 100+ that will be released for the 2010 event. You can geocache at your own pace, or you can enter the individual or team competitions for a chance to win a custom-made gold, silver, or bronze trackable geocoin that will be presented to the MOGA competitors who can find the most caches in the shortest time in their age division!

SPACE is our theme for 2010, and we have plenty of it at beautiful Mark Twain Lake! We had almost 600 registered attendees last year from 22 states, and we are expecting even more this year. Log in now to have access to Event Registration and the MOGA Forums!
